Reminder GHS Students!!! 
Student IDs and Planners will be handed out the next 3 weeks on Wednesdays.  IDs and Planners will be distributed in the front of the school by the main office.  Please enter campus through the Wellness Check area in the front part of campus next to the Main Office and remember to follow Social Distancing guidelines and wear masks. In order to follow safety and health guidelines because of COVID-19, we plan to limit the number of students on campus and will follow the schedule below:

8:50-9:40 – 11th grade          Last Names A-L 

10:35-11:25 – 11th grade     Last Names M-Z

Bruins, are you ready for some more October fun?  
Fall Bake Off  October 21-23

To enter this bake-off, you must bake any type of dessert, such as cupcakes, cakes, cookies, etc.… it must be decorated in a Fall/Halloween theme. You must use Fall/Halloween colors such as black, orange, purple and white. Make sure to take a picture of your dessert before decorating it and another one of your final result AND IT MUST HAVE THE @ghs_bruins_asb and your graduation year ON A PIECE OF PAPER ON THE PHOTO OF THE DESSERT!!! To get counted, you must post these pictures on Padlet, make sure you post it under YOUR year and write your full name to get counted. You'll have 3 days to make your dessert! You can vote for a post by clicking on the heart.  The post with the most likes will get extra points.    

 Fall/Halloween Home Decoration Contest   October 22, 2020  
Take a picture of your Halloween decorations with you in it and your graduating class to be counted. The decorations can be wherever, inside, or outside of your house. Then post the picture under your class grade. When you post your picture, add something that indicates it is your picture and not something you took off the internet. After you post the picture, you'll click the three dots and change it to your class corresponding color. Freshmen are orange, sophomores are black, juniors are red, and seniors are green. Then you'll rate other students' decorations out of 5.  

Please make an account for Padlet with your school credentials so you aren't labeled as anonymous when you post your picture.  

If you post anything inappropriate, you will be disqualified. All submissions must be made before October 22nd at 3pm.  

Spirit Week~ Monday October 26-30  
Our spirit week will take place through Instagram and Padlet.  
+Monday: favorite costume ever worn 
+Tuesday: show off your favorite fall outfit 
+Wednesday: favorite Halloween/scary movie 
+Thursday: favorite candy 
+Friday: favorite Halloween character 

When posting on padlet 

•make sure to sign in using Microsoft/ or add your name in title  
• If you decide to not include your face in the photo, you must have a sign that reads "GHS SPIRIT WEEK”  
• add your grade level  
• add your Instagram if you want to be featured in our ig account. 
• Only one entry per student

Costume Contest: Friday October 30, 2020 
Your costume must be school appropriate and must not involve any gang affiliation. Also, TOY WEAPONS ARE NOT ALLOWED in your photos. You will post your pictures this Padlet for your class points. Have fun and have a great October. HIT A LIKE TO YOUR FAVE PICTURE. 
Pumpkin Carving/Decorating Competition 

You will have a whole week.  This way you can hit up your friends if you are working in a group.  You will also have time to get your supplies ready to start carving.  The competition will start on the October 26 until the 30th.  You will have a whole week and you must submit the picture of your pumpkin on Padlet no later that 3pm on October 30.

Guidance Counselor Meetings for Freshmen and Seniors 
Freshman and Senior Meetings with your counselor will begin in the next few weeks. Students please remember that your parents will need to attend.  If you have any questions, please contact your counselor. 

Attention SENIORS! Cap and Gown Order Deadline!!
Only 3 weeks left to order your Cap and Gowns. The deadline is November 15th. Make sure you get your orders in right away. For more detailed information on how to order, go to the GHS website on the “Home” page; scroll down to “Bruin News” and access the link.

Also, Senior photo, baby photo, and quotes are also under “Bruin News” where you access the link. This deadline to submit is by Winter Break, which is December 20, 2020! Don’t miss out, Seniors!!!

A big “shout out” 
(What’s right at GHS) goes to the GHS Future Farmers of America (FFA) Career Technical Education Student Organization (CTSO) for their presentation last night at the October 28th SMCJUHSD Board Meeting! Fantastic job!! You ROCK!! Thanks to Desi and Daniel Villasenor, Kelsey Councilman, and the FFA student leadership and team.

Congratulations!
To Matt Huot for earning the S.T.A.R. Foundation Grant for the GHS Music department. They were awarded $5,000. Way to go!!
