AP STUDENTS...

Two articles will be assigned each week through Newsela. Register for Newela on my GHS school website. Each article will follow with a quiz. Quizzes will be included in the class grade. These assigned articles are designed to get you familiar with the class and the terminology used in the course curriculum. If you have questions, I can be reached by email at rgreen@smcjuhsd.org

AP Human Geography Students...

I keep getting emails about the book(s) for the Summer reading assignment. You'll need to go online, get a digital copy, borrow one, purchase one, or go to the city library to get a copy. The Monterey County Free Libraries shares resources throughout Monterey County and can get you one from another site.

The GHS Library is closed for the Summer and will not be open till the start of the school year. Also, the office staff have no access to textbooks and will be unable to help you to get them. Get on it, school is around the corner.

Attention all AP students...

There was a mistake in the class code for all classes that has now been resolved. Please check to see that the class code matches the subject. I have included a step-by-step guide at the bottom of each web page to assist you with registering. To date, we have six articles assigned.

ATTENTION AP ECON STUDENTS

To clear up any confusion, six articles to date, have been assigned on Newsela. As part of your Summer grade, it is your responsibility to keep up with the assignments as they are assigned. To receive credit for the article, you must take the short quiz after reading each article. Assignments will be posted on this page as they're assigned. Please do not forget to subscribe to my page, Remind, and Newsela. This is my method of communicating to you. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. See you in a few weeks!

UPDATE!! ATTENTION AP ECON STUDENTS

The articles need to be read, and the quizzes need to be taken, for class credit. FYI... Newsela makes me aware if you've opened the article and not taken the quiz. Get on it!

Attention all AP students...

With less than a month before the new school year, I hope you have had the chance to recharge those batteries and began the Summer work for both AP Economics and AP Human Geography. The first day of school will be upon us before you know it, and procrastination will only add to the stresses of all your course work. See you soon!

Attention AP Economics Students...

The second article for Newsela has been assigned. Do not allow yourself to fall behind as these are going into your overall grade for the course. We've had a lot of students sign up for Newsela, open the article to read, and not take the quiz. The quiz needs to be completed to record your score. These articles are designed to prepare you for "The Economic Way of Thinking."

AP Human Geography

Hopefully Summer reading has been good to you all. These readings are assigned to give you, the student, a better understanding and thorough grasp of our human footprint on the world. Check with your local city library for the books and don't be afraid to share.

We are closing in on a month before the start of the new school year. If you have not subscribed to my class page, that will need to be done before this Monday.

Please also register with Newsela. This will allow you to access assigned articles and take quizzes. That will the then be scored and counted into your overall grade for the course.

For those of you that can, sign up for Remind. I suggest you do so as this will be used to send reminders to you throughout the year in all my courses.

AP STUDENTS...

Once subscribed, get familiar with the links on the course page. This will familiarize you with areas that students will need to navigate to later in the course.

The syllabus will be added soon. Next task is to read and understand the syllabus to gain a better perspective of the purpose of this course and the areas that will be covered, including classroom rules.

I am currently working with administration and staff in regards to the textbook, if all goes as planned, they will be ready for pick up on Monday, June 6th in the library. It'll be done on a first come, first served basis. I will post again tomorrow letting you know. Enjoy the day!
