The CSin3 is still taking applications and has scholarship opportunities. Our next scheduled Saturday School is this Saturday, March 26, 2022. Saturday School begins at 8am and ends at 12pm. Report to the front of the campus gates between 745am and 8am. You will not be let into Saturday School after 8am. Students are expected to bring schoolwork with them for the entire 4 hours.  During Saturday School, you can clear either 1 full day of unexcused absence, up to 7 single period absences, or 8 tardies.  All the Saturday School dates for the remainder of the Spring 2022 semester are listed on the GHS website home page under upcoming events. <br><br>Vamos a La Playa take 2 Prom 2022 Saturday, April 30th, 2022. Next week, you can come on either Wednesday (1:50-4:50) or Saturday (8:30-11:30)   The topic is “Mandatory Vaccines”.  You can do all the research you like.  Remember, the competition is by grade level.   <br><br>Congratulations to Maya Avalos for placing as third alternate for the California State Speech and Debate Tournament in April. She has reached Excellence status for the National Speech and Debate Association, which is the highest level any student in our county has achieved.  <br><br>Food Fair March 18th at lunch with an extended lunch period. Presale tickets will go on sale at lunchtime starting Tuesday, March 15th. Tickets will act as your currency for the Food Fair. Cash will not be accepted at the booths. You must exchange your cash for tickets Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at lunch in front of Bruno. The students whose work was recognized by Scholastic are: Jazmin Alonso, Irene Argueta, Aylin Correa, Destiny Perez, Marlene Tinajero, Jennifer Zavala, Ashalla Binning, Luz Gonzalez, and Christell Guzman. The Scholastic art and writing awards is the largest and oldest youth art competition of its kind. Historically, out of 350,000 works submitted, only top 6% of applicants received golden key award, 9% received silver key award, and only 15% received an honorable mention at the regional level. Gold key winners move on to the national competition and are eligible for scholarships and awards in New York city. Mr. Turek, Mrs. Tinajero-Pacheco, Mrs. Day, and Mr. Krier would like to thank all of the GHS artists that participated, more details to come on the awards show and national competition. Entry at the door will be ten dollars. <br><br>The next Saturday School will take place this Saturday, February 19th from 8am to 12pm. Make sure you show up on time because the gate will close at 8am and if you’re late, you will not be let in. You are required to bring schoolwork with you to stay busy for 4 hours.  You will be able to clear one unexcused absence or 8 tardies for serving Saturday School, but understand that priority is given to clearing unexcused absences.
